As part of an ongoing strategy to develop Commercial Lines, one of the UK’s leading broker-only general insurers, MMA Insurance plc, has opened a new office in St Vincent Street in the heart of Glasgow’s business district.

Scotland is internationally recognised as the UK’s most important financial centre outside London, and it was therefore the obvious location for MMA to open its first office outside Reading. Glasgow is rapidly becoming an international financial services centre and is a key location for brokers and insurers.

Derek Plummer, Commercial Director of MMA Insurance, said: “We have asked brokers in Scotland and the North East what they expect from an insurer wishing to be successful in developing bespoke SME business. We are thus responding to the key broker requirements of having local trading presence, easy access to named underwriters and consistently high service delivery across quotations, renewals and claims.”

The Glasgow and North-East England team comprise Gillian McLaughlan, Senior Commercial Underwriter who joins MMA from Allianz and Ian McIntire, Commercial Underwriter, who joins MMA from NIG. Their new roles will see them developing MMA’s trading relationships with Scottish brokers, with a focus on small and mid market Commercial business.

They will be supported by Scott Downie as Development Manager, Scotland and Anthony Harris, Development Manager, North-East who both have several years experience with MMA in Business Development roles.
