4th November 2008 - Leading intermediary only insurer, MMA Insurance plc (MMA), has today announced the appointment of Ian Josephs to the newly created role of Head of Distribution, in a move that recognises the key challenge in today’s market to be the securing of profitable distribution.

Josephs, previously the company’s Electronic Distribution Manager, will be responsible for the management of MMA’s intermediary network, electronic distribution and bespoke trading functions. He will also play an important role in the development of the company’s Online Trading Strategy.

Derek Plummer, Commercial Director of MMA, said: “Our business strategy relies on strong trading relationships and the effective use of technology to make it easier for brokers to use our products and meet their clients’ needs. Ian already has a first class track record in delivering products to market and will be the architect of a wider online trading capability."

MMA has already seen growth of 30% in its Commercial Lines portfolio over the last five years. The company recently announced the opening of a new regional office in Glasgow for trading bespoke Commercial Lines business.
